Howdy y'all!
I've been running on a lot 2 Torqx 128 that was shipped to me by Patriot as a RMA replacement for a dead lot 6. It has the "dreaded" 1571FW, and after constant use since January it's benching in ATTO at 267-271 MB/s read and 170-177 MB/s write for 128K and up. I'm not having any issues with the drive in terms of slowdowns, but I'm planning a reinstall of Win 7 before the school year starts. Question is: Is it worth flashing to 2030? Has anyone seen 2030 running as fast as, or faster than, 1571? Has anyone been successful in downgrading back to 1571 from any of the other FWs (just in case I have trouble)? If I'm not going to see any benefit in performance, I'm just going to leave it alone. No sense fixing something that ain't broke, you know. After my trials and tribulations with the Lot 6 (died twice in 3 months), I'm really happy with this lot 2. It runs like a champ. Moose |

I know your thinking Moose,
but I disagree with your mentality that there is "no sense fixing something that ain't broke, you know." The truth of the matter is, inaction is also an action. The two 18** firmware releases had improvements, which fixed wear leveling issues which affect the lifetime of your drive. You may take a small performance hit, but you'll be enjoying your drive that much longer. The TRIM functionality has also been improved since the 1571 f/w version. Win7 uses TRIM... The choice is yours ![]() Jonathan987 |
